Every few weeks patients are forced to travel to the North to receive cataract surgery.
This is down to long waiting periods here, with some people claiming to have been waiting eight years.
The costs are reimbursed by the HSE under the Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme, in a similar way to the Cross-Border Healthcare Directive.
We sent Newstalk reporter Josh Crosbie on one of the buses travelling from Co Kerry.
