New Statistics Show Most Reported Rape Cases Don’t Make It To Court

Just 13% of rapes reported to gardai result in a prosecution.  That’s according to stats released to Newstalk under freedom of Information. Nearly 1,600 were reported to Gardai in 2018 and 2019 but only 215 prosecutions for rape during those two years. For reaction we were joined by Noeline Blackwell, CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.
