The Department of Health has announced 235 new cases of Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland, as well as two further deaths.

It brings to nine the number of deaths related to the respiratory illness in the country.

The total number of cases in the state now stands at 1,564.

Dr Arthur Jackson, Consultant in Infectious Diseases CUH and Mercy University Hospital spoke to the show this morning about the growing situation.
