Fuel excise to be cut if prices keep rising due to Russia

The excise duty on fuel could be reduced under a new taxation policy if petrol and diesel prices continue to soar.  The Government is considering the introduction of a “swing mechanism” if costs increase further due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. John Fitzgerald, Adjunct Professor in Economics at Trinty College Dublin spoke to Newstalk Breakfast this morning.
