200,000 euro in GP payouts for medical cards last year

Ireland’s GP practices received an average of almost two hundred grand last year for treating medical card patients. New figures released to Newstalk have revealed that the HSE paid over €565m (in fees and allowances) to GP practices and co-ops last year for treating medical card patients and providing services to other State health schemes. This figure represents an increase of €15million from 2017 with GP practices receiving an average of over €190,000. Newstalk Reporter Eoghan Murphy obtained the figures and joined us exclusively on Breakfast
