Why do the English claim Irish people when they become a successful actor or sports star? Is it ignorance, an inferiority complex or do they think the Republic of Ireland is still part of Britain? Team GB retired cyclist Bradley Wiggins said on Eurosport that Sam Bennett could almost be considered British, after the Carrick-on-Suir cyclist became just the sixth ever Irishman to win a Tour de France stage on Tuesday. Sitting in the studio  Bennett's fellow Irishman Sean Kelly on Eurosport Wiggans went on to say: "At least we understand what he's saying, we can't really understand what you're saying, Sean, can we?"
