Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will become the first Irish local authority to ban single-use plastics.

Supermarkets and cafes who ignore the rules could face fines of up to €500.

Businesses who are caught using single use plastic containers, straws, spoons, lids and bottles will have to change to alternatives.

Henry McKean asked are we going too far or do you welcome the ban on single use plastics in Dun Laoghaire?
