We've all become very familiar with AI’s ability to master human language in recent years through the likes of ChatGPT.

But, if AI can figure out human language, can it do the same for animal languages? And could we soon have an animal translator on our phones?

David Farrier, Professor of Literature and the Environment in the University of Edinburgh and author of ‘Nature’s Genius: Evolution’s Lessons for a Changing Planet’, joins Seán to discuss.
