Should people have to work for 40 years to claim the full State pension? 

Well, that is something which is being suggested by a new plan being outlined to the Government.   

It says that the current method for assessing entitlements should be abolished and workers must make 40 years of social insurance contributions – or 2,040 contributions – to get a full State pension.
