Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said that a one off bonus to recognise the efforts put in by frontline workers during the pandemic will be announced “shortly”.

However, it's believed there are concerns in Government that if nurses and doctors were given 10 days additional annual leave, then members of the Gardaí and civil servants would want the same reward.

Senior Ministers support the idea of a bonus for frontline healthcare workers, while Tanaiste Leo Varadkar says it shouldn't be limited to healthcare workers.
