Why do people start their Christmas shopping so early, is it consumerism or is this what shoppers want to spread the cost?

 

Henry: Last year an average Irish household spent €2,800 on Christmas. Well the phrase being used is Christmas Creep, as in every year the Christmas creeps in earlier and earlier, but this year believe it or not we are later than usual. The Brown Thomas and Arnott’s Christmas Shop normally opens in August, this year because of Covid they are delayed until September with the Brown Thomas Christmas shop not opening until September the 17th.
