Last year 148 people died on our roads and this weekend the Gardai and the Road Safety Authority want to save lives by getting us off our mobile phones whilst driving and to get us all to slow down.
Last year 16 year old twin Shane Duggan died of his injuries after his bike collided with a car in Oughterard, Straffan County Kildare. Henry McKean met his dad Derek in Abu Dhabi recently where the family used to live and also spoke to the Garda Roads Policing and the Road Safety Authority about slowing down this bank holiday Easter weekend. With Assistant Commissioner David Sheehan and RSA chief executive Moyagh Murdock. There has been a 24% increase in motorists detected holding a mobile phone whilst driving.
