In recent years as our choices continue to grow, our relationship with food has evolved into something that can be but pretty complicated.

One thing that doesn't seem to change though is that pang of hunger we feel and the craving for something in particular.

We might be forgiven for thinking flavour is the deciding factor with the choices we make but as it turns out it’s a bit more complex than that.

So what exactly is going on inside us that helps us decide what we need to eat and in what quantities?

Caley Johnson, a graduate student of anthropology at City University of New York joins Jonathan to discuss.
