Lidl now command a quarter of the Irish grocery market

Much of the success of the German discount supermarkets lies of course in their lower prices.  That’s why they now command between them a quarter of the Irish grocery market.  But it’s not just price.  Both companies no longer source most of their produce from Germany.  They do so a lot closer to home.  Only this week Lidl signed a renewed and beefed-up deal with O’Briens Fine Food to supply cooked meat products such as ham and turkey.  But will that push up the price for consumers?   To chat about this and more with Joe was Kevin Duffy, Senior Buying Director for Lidl Ireland.
