Almost 226,000 or 1 in 10 people in the workforce are directly employed in the tourism sector here, whether that's hotels, visitor attractions or transport.   

Failte Ireland has launched its new strategy, aimed at persuading visitors to try out the less busy tourist hotspots in the off-peak parts of the year. 

Joe Lynam was joined by Caroline Bocquel, the chief executive of Failte Ireland.
