A lack of maternity leave and the risk of online abuse can reduce a woman's chance of success at election.

That's the finding of a new report which will be launched today by Women for Election.

It says Irish women are left out of 40 per cent of critical government decision-making tables, including the Covid 19 national response.

Women for Election CEO, Caitriona Gleeson is encouraging women to get involved in politics, despite the barriers:
