Legendary Horse racing trainer Gordon Elliott and senior handicapper Sandy Shaw joined this week's Friday Racing Show.

Elliott joined the show to talk about some of his horse's chances this weekend, and what the season holds for his stable. 

"Every weekend there's going to be a good horse. It's just great to be involved in the whole thing" 

Apples Jade return this weekend looking for back-to-back wins in the Lismullen hurdle at Navan. The renowned trainer says the horse to run very well this weekend. 

"She's in good form,' said Elliott.

Horse racing handicapper Sandy Shaw also joined Ger Gilroy and Johnny Ward to explain exactly what handicapping is in horse racing.

The senior handicapper tried to simplify the ins and out of some of the horse racing language that is unfamiliar to people outside of the sport. 

"Ratings are basically pounds, as well call them, weight wise. Most horses have ratings. A horse would have to qualify for a rating; would need to run in three hurdle races. For example if we take hurdles - we access the horse on the basis of those three runs, and then we give them a handicap mark."
