This season was set up to be a breakout campaign for Owen Garvan. The Irish midfielder was a key player as Crystal Palace earned promotion to the Premier League.

Scoring four times and assisting seven more, he was the third most creative player at the club behind Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie in terms of assists.

It all looked so rosy when he signed a two-year contract extension at the Eagles, which is supposed to keep him at the club until 2015. And with a good run of form in the Premier League, even a place in the Ireland squad could not be definitively ruled out.

Yet by the end of the summer window he seems to have been frozen out, despite the fact that he started the first game of the season.

Since then however, the player has been left out of the 25-man squad for the Premier League campaig, which leaves little option but to go out on loan before January.

However, suggestions of a fallout with Ian Holloway have gathered after a series of subtle tweets...

Last night Dan McDonnell discussed the situation on the Off The Ball Football Show. So what has happened over the past couple of weeks?

"It sort of ties in with the feeling that was around last year - that Ian Holloway wasn't particularly popular with the Crystal Palace dressing room that he inherited. Some of the guys that have been there for a while don't seem so enamoured with Holloway. The wording of Garvan's tweet was quite interesting."

It is interesting in the sense that there have been strong rumours surrouding Holloway's future and the possibility that Alan Pardew could be lined up for a shock return to the club that he served as a player.
