A recent article by Colm O'Rourke in the Sunday Independent has garnered plenty of interest.

In it the pundit and former Meath player claims that the Gaelic Players Association has lost its way and have become "just another committee" within the GAA.

GPA CEO Dessie Farrell shared his disappointment in the article when he spoke to Off The Ball about the reaction to it tonight.

"We fought a long and difficult campaign to be officially recognised by the GAA and that agreement is a number of things," said Farrell, who highlighted the benefits of recognition within the GAA and how it gives the GPA a platform.

However he acknowledged that there should be a "healthy tension" between the GAA and GPA and he says that exists between the two bodies.

But he also feels that there isn't a necessity for the GPA to resort to "megaphone diplomacy" anymore.
