We love TV on Newstalk Breakfast so every Monday we choose the best bits on the box this week.

Here are the top five picks:

5. Lenihan: A Legacy, RTE One, Tuesday, 9.35pm

  • This programme is the first in a three part series about three prominent Irish businessmen and leaders who died almost too soon.
  • The second and third episode takes in Ryanair founder Tony Ryan and Kerry publican and GAA legend Paidi O Se.
  • But first up is a programme about the late Finance Minister Brian Lenihan who passed away in 2011.
  • The father-of-two was just 52 when he died and we can all remember when he revealed his cancer battle.
  • His family recently have had to “defend” his father who was portrayed in the Haughey series and they have been defending him as he has been discussed in the banking crisis.
  • I understand in this programme, his aunt Mary O’Rourke will be interviewed as well as other friends, colleagues, family members and constituents. This will be a compelling watch, as much has been said about the politician since his tragic death four years ago.

4. Hoff the Record, Dave, Thursday, 9pm

  • The Hoff is back! Last seen on our screens for BGT, he’s now back with a brand new show on Dave.
  • It’s shot in the style of a documentary and is a semi-improvisational comedy about the former Baywatch’s star efforts at reigniting his star status in the UK.
  • He first shot to fame more than 30 years ago and we are told that on this programme he is playing a “highly fictionalised” version of himself.
  • But, I can’t help to think it is more true to himself than we could possibly know. One of the actors who starred alongside him in the new show said that he was quizzing her as to why she didn’t have a PA, and that he ate an eight-egg breakfast every morning he called the ‘Hoff Special’.
  • The six part series is coming from the same people who brought us ‘An Idiot Abroad’ and it kicks off Thursday at 9pm.

3. Graham Norton, BBC One, Friday, 10.35pm

  • I hate to pick Graham for TV Times cause I kind of feel like it is cheating in a way, but really this Friday there is nothing else you will want to watch on TV.
  • Known to few as the Governor of California, but known to many as the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger is joining Graham on the red sofa.
  • Arnie is on to promote the latest instalment of the hit franchise, ‘Terminator: Genisys’.
  • He will be joined on the show by Emilia Clarke, GoT star who also stars in the new Terminator flick. Jake Gyllenhall, the latest star to undergo one of these extreme Hollywood transformations, will also be on the red sofa.

2. Dara O’Briain Meets Stephen Hawking, Tuesday, BBC One, 11.05pm

  • Bray native Dara O’Briain is off to meet Professor Stephen Hawking, the theoretical physicist.
  • The Oscar winning hit film ‘The Theory of Everything’ was about his life, his wife Jane, their family and their children.
  • Dara was given exclusive access to him and it was filmed over a three month period.
  • He also spoke to Eddie Redmayne who won an Oscar for playing him in the hit film.

1. Game of Thrones, Sky Atlantic, Monday, 9pm

  • It’s the finale of the latest series of Game of Thrones, and to be honest- I’m not a fan.
  • I never took to the show but this seems to me to be bigger than any other series cause it is all that anyone is talking about and I feel left out from time to time when I don’t get some of the in jokes!
  • But in typical GoT style, it all comes to a bloody end tonight. I am expertly advised that this fifth season is the first time it the show has strayed from the books, so it’s anybody’s guess what happens.
