The Newspaper Review opened with the late breaking news that musician David Bowie died in the early hours of the morning, something that did not make the papers.

Tributes to the iconic rocker are being led by British Prime Minister David Cameron who said: "He was a master of reinvention who kept getting it right".

"Kenny's re-election deal" and a €500 cut to the Universal Social Charge is covered in The Irish Independent.

A snowy Sally Gap is the front page image on that paper.

The Irish Daily Mirror: "I don't want Cheryl's money" after pop star Cheryl Cole's confirmation that her marriage of less than two years is over.

The Herald leads with: "Screen refugees after sex attacks" in reference to comments made by Renua leader Lucinda Creighton on Newstalk's Sunday Show.

The Irish Daily Mail leads with: "Pacteau mum - I told killer to drop appeal".

Inside the papers: 

Console's suicide prevention line recorded a record number of calls over the Christmas period, they dealt with over 4,000 callers.

Consumer spending surged by 7% in the last quarter of last year, but online spending was up by 16% - according to Visa Europea.
