Fine Gael TD John Perry says the party's Director of Elections told him he would "look forward to seeing him in court".
Fine Gael yesterday agreed to add the outgoing TD to its election ticket in Sligo-Leitrim, after withdrawing its defence in a High Court case.
Brian Hayes told Newstalk Breakfast he is happy the situation is now resolved adding that Deputy Perry was never actually turned down by the party, but rather the issue was being looked at.
He says the dispute was resolved after a good "pow wow".
But speaking this morning, John Perry said that is surprising news:
"Well that's news to me now, to be honest, because I met Brian Hayes just last week and he said he would look forward to seeing me in the court. So that's a major change from his point of view."
You can listen to his interview, and an interview with Brian Hayes here:
Mr Hayes told Breakfast a "good old pow wow" solved the dispute between the party and Perry but he refused to be drawn on who will pay the legal costs:
Ivan Yates had this to say about the debacle:
Fine Gael receives about €3 million a year in public funding.
