Minister of State Kathleen Lynch has has disputed claims it is a given that some Cabinet ministers and longer serving members within the Labour Party are to be bumped in favour of new blood.

The Labour Party Minister was responding to speculation that Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte and Tanaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Eamon Gilmore will lose their seats around the Cabinet table in the forthcoming re-shuffle.

It comes after the Education Minister Ruairi Quinn denied he was being pushed out of government, after announcing he was stepping down from Cabinet.

Minister Lynch says she believes the Labour Party has always got the balance right between experience and fresh ideas and that they will continue to do so.

The Labour TD for Cork North-Central spoke to Newstalk Breakfast.
