Independent TD Katherine Zappone says she did not do a deal to support Enda Kenny For Taoiseach in return for the position of education minister.
The newly-elected TD backed Mr Kenny in a Dáil vote a fortnight ago, and indicated she is ready to serve.
She says if offered the position she will consider it.
She told Newstalk Breakfast that she just wants to represent the people who voted for her.
"What I would like to do is have a significant influence to bring about the commitment that I made, the manifesto that I was elected on in terms of the people in Dublin South-West".
Asked is she would accept a Cabinet position if offered to her, she replied: "I would consider it".
But she also says there has been no discussion with anyone from Fine Gael over serving as education minister.
