GAA referees could soon have the power to send players off for racism offences.

A motion is being raised at next month's GAA Congress calling for racist abuse to be upgraded to the level of 'aggressive fouls'.

Under the proposals, a referee must have heard or witnessed the incident to issue a red card.

Tommy Carr is Westmeath's minor manager.

He told Newstalk's Breakfast he firmly supports the motion but says some foreign players are 'oversensitive'.

Ken McCue is the International Officer with Sport Against Racism Ireland.

He says that terminology is outdated - and racist chanting or 'sledging' is not banter:
