YouTube has announced it's disabling almost all comments on videos of children.
It comes amid allegations of 'predatory behaviour' in comments under videos featuring young people.
Last week, claims emerged that pedophiles were using the video site to post comments about children.
The allegations were detailed by YouTuber Matt Watson, who claimed the site's recommended algorithm was "facilitating pedophiles’ ability to connect with each other, trade contact info, and link to actual [child pornography] in the comments".
It led to several companies suspending adverts on YouTube, including Disney and Fortnite developer Epic Games.
In a statement today, YouTube said it has now blocked comments on tens of millions of videos featuring young children.
The Google-owned company explained: "Over the next few months, we will be broadening this action to suspend comments on videos featuring young minors and videos featuring older minors that could be at risk of attracting predatory behavior."
A 'small number' of video-makers will be able to keep comments enabled.
However, the streaming giant added: "These channels will be required to actively moderate their comments, beyond just using our moderation tools, and demonstrate a low risk of predatory behavior."
The company's also developing new tools to "identify and remove predatory comments".
YouTube has removed "certain channels that attempt to endanger children in any way", and will continue to take action against anybody violating its policies.
