We’re well used to ‘making the best of it’ when it comes to Irish weather, but this summer, it’s been particularly tough to keep the disillusionment (like the rain) at bay.
Coupled with the fact that we enjoyed a glorious heatwave not so long ago in 2013 (and last year was pretty good too), our hankering for sunshine is at a premium.
Over the past week, we ran a competition to find the photograph that perfectly summs up an Irish 'summer' and we received some brilliant entries.
But there could only be one winner of the lovely two-night B&B stay for two adults at Mount Wolseley Hotel Spa & Country Club in County Carlow, with an evening meal on one night - and that's Emma Meehan's entry 'Throw another shrimp on the bah-bie':
