A 19-year-old woman has died after the car she was driving collided with a tree in County Tipperary.

Gardaí said the crash happened on the N24 at Ballydrehid in Cahir this morning at around 8:30am this morning.

The woman was fatally injured in the crash.

Her body was removed to  University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem will take place.

The local coroner has been notified.

The road is currently closed as Gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the crash site.

Local diversions are in place.

Investigators are calling for witnesses or anyone who can assist the investigation to contact them.
