Gardai in Cork are investigating the discovery of the body of a woman in a city centre shop this morning.

The remains of the woman aged in her 60s were found by cleaning staff in Dunnes Stores on Patrick Street just before 8am.

Gardai believe the woman collapsed in the toilets yesterday evening and her body remained there overnight.

Officers are awaiting a post-mortem examination which will determine the cause of her death.

However they say there is nothing to suggest anything suspicious about the circumstances.
