One Ohio judge took a novel approach when sentencing a woman for bailing on a taxi fare.
Michael A Cicconetti ordered Victoria Bascom to pay the driver in full, and gave her two additional options to choose between: either spend a month in prison, or walk 30 miles.
30 miles is the approximate distance of the taxi journey she took with her friends between Cleveland to Painesville, after which all passengers left the building without paying. The police were called and Bascom, who ordered the taxi, found herself summoned by authorities.
Cicconetti said that walking the exact route would prove too dangerous, so requested that she do 40 laps of the Lake County Fairgrounds within 48 hours.
