A woman is in a critical condition after a serious assault in County Wicklow.

Gardaí said it happened at a house in Arklow at around 4:25am this morning.

Investigators said the woman, aged in her early 30s, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin with serious injuries.

she is now in a critical condition.

No arrests have been made; however, gardai are following a definite line of inquiry. The scene has been sealed off and the investigation is ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Arklow Garda Station.

They are particularly interested in talking to driver who were in the area between 4am and 5am and may have dash-cam footage.
