A woman has been killed in a road crash in Co Louth.

The two car collision happened on the Dunleer to Monasterboice road at around 10.15 last night.

The 35 year old woman was driving one of the cars while a second woman, who was driving the other car was injured.

She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where her condition is unknown.

The road remains closed in both directions for a technical examination.
