A woman believed to be in her late 50s has been killed in three car pile up in Newcastle West County Limerick.

The crash happened on the N21 on the Rathkeale side of the town around 6.30 this evening.

A number of other people were taken to University Hospital Limerick following the crash.

The road has been closed and garda diversions are in place.

It brings to two the number of people that have been killed on the roads this weekend.
