A woman has died after being hit by a car in Dublin.

The pedestrian in her early 70s was injured when she was struck by a vehicle at the junction of Howth Road and Collins Avenue in Clontarf at about 12.30pm this afternoon.

The woman was taken to the Mater Hospital, where she later died.

Garda Forensic Collision investigators have carried out an examination of the scene.
