This week an American woman finally received her degree after a jaw-dropping 75 year wait.
Jessie White had planned to graduate in stenography and bookkeeping from Beal College, Maine in 1939, but a $5 transcript fee prevented her.
After a friend contacted the college and told them Jessie's story, the current president decided to waive her fee and organise a special graduation ceremony.
She described it to ABC News: “It was wonderful. I had a lot of fun. I didn't think my life was complete without it.”
Despite suffering from Polio since childhood, she persevered trying to find employment and made a successful career in bookkeeping.
