Investigations are continuing into the cause of a fatal fire in Co. Limerick.
The body of a woman in her 40s was discovered by emergency services when they were alerted to the blaze at a house at Daly's Avenue in the city at around 11:30pm last night.
The mother of two was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem is expected to be carried out later.
Her body was discovered in an upstairs bedroom by firemen.
It is understood the fire was largely confined to one bedroom in the two-storey house.
It is believed the woman, who lived alone, had been out socialising with friends before returning home.
These local people have described their upset at the tragedy.
