Gardai are investigating following a fatal hit and run in Dublin.

A woman in her 40s died after she struck by a car while crossing Davitt Road in Drimnagh last night.

The incident happened at Golden Bridge Luas stop on Davitt Road at around half ten.

She was taken to St James' Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Gardai say the car involved left the scene in the direction of the Naas Road.

They're appealing to anyone who may have seen a dark coloured, possible Ford Focus with either 08 or 09 registration in the area to contact them. The car would have damage to the front and to the windscreen.
