A woman has died in a house fire in Co Sligo.

The blaze happened on White Strand View in Aylesbury Park in Sligo town just after 9 o'clock last night.

A 34 year old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, her body was removed to Sligo Regional Hospital for a post mortem examination.

Two other occupants who were in the house at the time- a 3 year old boy and an 18 year old teenager- escaped uninjured.

The scene is preserved for a technical examination and a garda investigation is underway.

Local Fine Gael Councillor David Cawley says the community is shocked.
