A 52-year-old woman has died following a crash in Co Kildare last night.

The single-car crash happened at Rathangan Road in Allenwood South, Naas at around 11pm.

The driver of the car - a 52-year-old woman - was the only occupant of the car.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out today.

Forensic investigators are at the scene this morning, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following last night's crash.
