A mother of two who wrote a moving letter to a newspaper about the difficulties families are facing trying to balance work, bills, childcare, extra taxes and a mortgage says she would love to meet the Taoiseach Enda Kenny to explain the impact government policies have on working parents.

The letter by Donna Hartnett to the Irish Independent was viewed more than 15,000 times online, after it struck a chord with families around the country.

She spoke about her children being "raised in childcare centres like hens" and said the water charge was the final straw.

Ms Hartnett also described the frustration of working long hours to pay increased taxes, and the stress it puts on her family and children.

She told the Ray D'Arcy show on Today FM she feels the government has no idea about the lives of ordinary tax payers.
