A woman in her 30s has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of a homeless man in Cork.

53-year-old Timothy Hourihane died following an assault at Mardyke Walk last October.

He was found unconscious near a tent on fire and was later pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí have this morning detained a woman in her 30s for questioning at the Bridewell Garda Station.

She is being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and can be detained for up to 24 hours.

She is the third person to be arrested as part of the investigation.
