A woman (44) arrested at Cork Airport on Sunday on suspicion of drug trafficking has been released without charge.

The Portugese woman was on board an Aer Lingus flight, on which a Brazilian man (24) died on Sunday.

A post mortem found that he had ingested what is believed to have been up to 100 cocaine pellets.

Gardaí searched the woman's luggage at Cork Airport after she disembarked the flight from Lisbon, before deciding to hold her for questioning.

She was brought to Togher Garda Station in Cork where she was questioned about whether she knew the victim, John Santos Gurjao.

She has been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí are continuing to liaise with the Brazilian embassy regarding the repatriation of Mr Santos Gurjao's body back to his family in Boa Vista in north western Brazil.
