A woman who was arrested by Gardaí investigating the sudden and unexplained death of a baby in Co Mayo has been released without charge.
The four-month-old baby boy died following an incident at a residence in Bohola on December 28th.
The baby was taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar.
He was later moved to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin where he was pronounced dead on January 1st.
A post-mortem was carried out by the state pathologist, who has sent a preliminary report to Gardaí.
Yesterday a woman in her 20s was arrested as part of the investigation.
She was released without charged this morning. A file will be prepared for the information of the DPP.
Gardaí say investigations are continuing.
