A woman who fell off a bike on a mountain range, ending up in a water stream, has been airlifted to hospital.

The 26 year old woman was cycling along the Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Trails in Co Limerick, when she came off a mountain bike on a sharp bend in the trail at 2pm.

It's believed she suffered a number of broken bones in the fall.

A garda spokesperson said the woman was Not a competitor in the annual 'The Beast of Ballyhoura Adventure Race', which was taking place on a different trail at the time.
