A woman (81) who was knocked over by a van in north Dublin is to receive damages of €950,000 in a High Court settlement.
Suing through her daughter, Rose Boughton from Finglas took an action for alleged negligence against the driver and his employer Bestsave Limited.
The court heard Rose Boughton was walking on the footpath on the North Road in Finglas when she was struck by a van exiting Terry Lilly Commercials Leasing.
The then 80-year-old suffered a significant head injury and was brought to the Mater Hospital where she remained as an inpatient for two months, having suffered a brain haemorrhage.
Prior to the accident in December 2012, she had led an active life and had cared for her son who has Asperger's Syndrome.
She now requires 24-hour care and is looked after by her adult daughter. The parties agreed to settle the case for €950,000.
