A woman has died following a road collision in Co Dublin.

The incident involving two cars occurred on the R127 at Blakes Cross in Lusk yesterday evening just after 6pm.

A driver in one of the vehicles, a 60-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time after the collision.

Her body has since been removed from the scene while the Coroner has been notified and a post mortem has been arranged.

The driver of the second car, a woman in her 50s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital.

Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed for a time as Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene but it has since fully reopened to traffic.

GardaĆ­ are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

They are also asking any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time to make this available to GardaĆ­.
