Today
This morning rain in the west and north will gradually spread southeastwards.
The rain will turn persistent and heavy in the north.
The south and southeast will stay dry until later this evening.
Mid day temperatures will be around 11 to 15 degrees, coolest in the north but temperatures will continue to rise through the evening and early night.
Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds will increase fresh to strong and gusty by evening.
Tonight
Tonight will be windy with rain gradually clearing southeastwards.
It will be mild with lowest temperatures staying around 8 to 12 degrees.
Strong westerly winds will veer northwest and moderate by morning.
Weather warming
There is a status yellow rainfall rainfall warning in place for Donegal.
There will be heavy rain at times Wednesday and for a time overnight will lead to accumulations of 30 to 50mm, highest in hilly and mountainous areas.
It is in place until 3:00am on Thursday.
