Dry in most areas this morning, with sunny spells, but rain will develop on the southwest coast, extending gradually north-eastwards across most of Munster and parts of Connacht by afternoon and reaching the northeast before evening.

The rain will turn heavy in many areas, but will ease in many parts of Connacht this evening. Maximum temperatures 14 to 17 Celsius, in light to moderate mainly westerly breezes at first, backing south to southeast and freshening in western and southern coastal areas, later veering south to southwest.

Tonight will become dry in many areas, but there will be some further patches of rain and drizzle, turning heavy and persistent along southern coasts and extending northwards into much of Munster and many parts of Leinster by morning, with some heavy falls in the southern half of the country.
