The question-and-answer website Askfm.com has announced it will be implementing a number of changes to improve safety.

The popular site has been under scrutiny following the most recent death of a user. British girl Hannah Smith (14) - who endured months of online bullying - was found hanged in her bedroom this summer.

The Latvian-based website has also been linked to several cases of online bullying in Ireland, including the death by suicide last year of teenagers Erin Gallagher and Ciara Pugsley in Ireland.

An independent audit has been taking place.

As a result of that, the site will now have a more prominent "report button", and more staff hired to work as moderators.

Askfm.com says it plans to address its corporate visibility responsibilities by setting up a seperate website, an information resource that parents can access for contact details and notes on the processes that Askfm.com follows when there are reports of abuse.
