Much like toothbrush moustaches, it seems like wearing a pointy white hood will forever be seen as a questionable fashion choice.
With the rise of UKIP and their success in the recent elections, there's been much debate in the UK on the connections between nationalism and racism. Unwittingly, supermarket chain Asda seem to have stumbled into the foray with their wearable England flags, whose white hood has been said to resemble the uniform of the Klu Klux Klan.
On sale for £3 (€3.68), the flag has the following description on the Asda website: "Support England in the world cup with this unique wearing flag!" But Twitter users have astutely pointed out that by wearing the flag you might be confused for a supporter of something else entirely.

The Guardian reports that Asda are sticking to their guns and defending the hooded flag. A spokesperson said:
"We know there's chatter on Twitter about our wearable World Cup flags, but it's simply a flag with a hood – nothing more, nothing less. We opted for a hood on our wearable England and Brazilian flags as you never know what the British weather will bring. We want customers to get behind the team without getting wet."
